Female Awareness Self Defense
Self defense and self protection are an important priority for women. The most common crime to happen to a woman is rape, but it is more about a feeling of dominance from one person over another rather than actual sex. Self defense is important because statistics say that all women are good candidates to become victims of violent crime at any point in their lives. According to statistics, a woman who is only 21 years of age has a 25 percent risk of suffering violent crime in her life. Self defense is more than just okay. When a woman's safety is in danger, defending herself by fighting back is the most ethical decision she can make.
The Female Awareness self defense course is designed to make you more aware, prepared, and ready for any situation that may occur in your everyday life on any given day. This course differs from other self defense classes in that they start from the point of attack, and since attacks begin before it becomes physical, we teach how to avoid the attack altogether.
The onetime 2 hour Open Enrollment class covers the following:
Hour 1-Safety Discussion:
• How to avoid being a target
• The “Illusion of Safety”
• How to handle a confrontation: verbally, mentally, and psychologically
• The power of body language and non-verbal cues
• Effective tips on how to be safer and more aware
• Safety items and how to use your cell phone as an “invisible friend”
• Specific locations: elevators, street, subways, dates, bars, taxis, etc.
• Learning how to use your voice
Hour 2-Physical Techniques:
• How, when and where to strike
• Learning over 23 strikes from head to toe
• What to do from the floor & how to handle attacks from behind
• Escape from grabs and chokeholds
• How to handle multiple attackers & what to do when a weapon is involved
• Easy mnemonic devices to remember techniques
Health
Health is a productive asset that influences economic growth significantly. According to the National Health Policy 2001 the morbidity & mortality levels in the country are still unacceptably high. We recognize that attainment of health indicators have been very uneven across the rural-urban divide. Access to public health services is nominal and health standards are grossly inadequate for the vulnerable sections of the society. The overall objectives of our health programs have been Promotion of positive health, prevention of diseases, early diagnosis-treatment and follow up of disease, and provision of healthy environment. During the camp if somebody identified with some problem, we refer the patient to the hospital by the team of doctors.
We have successfully organized several health camps with the help of local Govt. Hospitals, Raah group associates and the Immunization included giving up regular doses of Tuberculosis, Diphtheria, Sugar, Pertussis, Polio, Measles, Tetanus and some more to Children, older and pregnant mothers.
